The Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test (NNAT3) serves as an evaluation tool for gauging nonverbal aptitude in children, assessing their problem-solving, reasoning, and abstract thinking capabilities without relying on language skills.
Created by Jack A. Naglieri, an American psychologist and professor at the University of Virginia, the NNAT3 is an evolution of the original Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test (NNAT), which debuted in 1988.
Introduced in 2010, the NNAT3 has gained popularity as an instrument for nonverbal aptitude assessment. It comprises 48 unique multiple-choice questions, categorized into three levels: Level A, featuring straightforward questions, while Levels B and C encompass more intricate items. The test is designed to be completed within 30 minutes and is typically administered to children aged 4 to 17. In summary, the NNAT3 is a reliable, valid, and easily administered tool for accurately measuring a child’s capacity for problem-solving, reasoning, and abstract thinking without language reliance.
