The Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test (NNAT3) is an assessment tool used to measure nonverbal aptitude in children. The NNAT3 is designed to evaluate a child’s problem-solving, reasoning, and abstract thinking abilities without relying on language skills.
Developed by American psychologist and University of Virginia professor Jack A. Naglieri, the NNAT3 is an adaptation of the original Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test (NNAT) first published in 1988.
The NNAT3 was released in 2010 and is now a widely used method for assessing nonverbal aptitude in children. The NNAT3 consists of 48 multiple-choice questions, each presented in a unique pattern. The questions are divided into three levels, with Level A consisting of easy questions and Levels B and C containing more complex items. The test takes approximately 30 minutes to complete and is typically administered to children aged 4 to 17.
The NNAT3 is a reliable, valid, and easy-to-administer assessment tool for measuring nonverbal aptitude in children. It accurately evaluates a child’s problem-solving, reasoning, and abstract thinking abilities without relying on language skills.
