The Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) is an assessment for students from kindergarten to grade 12, which is administered in groups and is published by Riverside Insights. Its purpose is to evaluate students’ acquired reasoning and problem-solving skills by presenting them with a variety of verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal test questions.
According to Riverside Insights, a recent report from the Education Week Research Center reveals that 54% of surveyed school districts incorporate the Cognitive Abilities Test™ (CogAT®) into their criteria for identifying gifted and talented students.
