The Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) is a group-administered K–12 assessment published by Riverside Insights and intended to estimate students’ learned reasoning and problem solving abilities through a battery of verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal test items.

As per Riverside Insights, a recent Education Week Research Center report shows 54% of districts surveyed use the Cognitive Abilities Test™ (CogAT®) as part of their gifted and talented identification criteria.

The CogAT Grade 2 test packet is a comprehensive resource tailored specifically for 2nd-grade students preparing to take the CogAT test. This packet includes a wealth of invaluable materials, featuring 600 unique questions that encompass all seven of the CogAT batteries designed for 2nd grade.

These batteries include:

  1. Verbal Classification
  2. Number Series
  3. Number Analogy
  4. Number Puzzle
  5. Sentence Completion
  6. Figural Matrices
  7. Paper Folding

These practice questions are accessible online, making it convenient for students and parents to access and use them for CogAT test 2nd grade preparation.
